Secretarial Mentoring Program

As part of the onboarding process, the TU Dortmund University offers a mentoring concept for new employees in the secretariat. This offers employees in the secretarial area the opportunity to receive support as a mentee from selected mentors. The basic ideas here are support during induction, making contacts, orientation at the university and knowledge management.

The mentoring concept is aimed at TU Dortmund employees who work in the secretarial field.

Mentoring is part of personnel development and in this concept refers to a support measure in which an experienced person (mentor) supports the professional development or career entry of new employees (mentees) in terms of content at TU Dortmund University.

The mentoring program runs over a rough period of three to six months. Regular meetings or telephone calls for joint exchange between mentor and mentee take place within this time frame. The concept is based on voluntariness and collegial trust on both sides, whereby a good personal and functioning working relationship is crucial. It is a voluntary activity on the part of the mentors and must be distinguished from the task of induction.
