Appraisal interviews

The appraisal interview is a central management tool that takes place once a year in the form of a dialog between superiors and employees, irrespective of the occasin. They do not occur spontaneously, but are scheduled and prepared. It therefore makes sense tu ensure a uniform and systematic procedure based on a standardized instrument within TU Dortmund University

The appraisal interview serves the purpose of:

  • Information
  • Motivation
  • Cooperation
  • Development

The appraisal interview requires openess and mutual understanding and thus improves the relationship between superior and employee.

The goal is a partnership-based and goal-oriented dialog. An active role for all participants and the opportunity to prepare for it are therefore prerequisites for successful discussions.
