Pension law matters
We advise on questions and matters relating to pension law and support you in the online application procedure for pension information and in the use of the LBV pension calculator. Already during your recruitment, we help you to have all facts fully documented which are relevant for your later pension. If you have questions about your rights and obligations in retirement, we are at your disposal.
Provision (pension) for civil servants
The pension is calculated on the basis of the pensionable remuneration and the pensionable period of service.
Upon retirement or transfer, a pension is only granted if a period of service of at least five years has been completed or the retirement was due to an accident in the line of duty.
Further information on pensions, e.g. statutory pension equalization or child-raising periods, can be found on the website of the Landesamt für Besoldung und Versorgung NRW.
In addition, you can find an information sheet on the rights and obligations of retired professors at TU Dortmund University in the ServicePortal.
Pension information
Since 1 January 2021, civil servants of higher education institutions who have reached the age of 55 have a statutory right to be provided with pension information (Section 57 (10) LBeamtVG NRW).
For this purpose, the Landesamt für Besoldung und Versorgung NRW has set up an online application procedure. An application for pension information can be submitted via the following link:
You enter and transmit the required data yourself as part of the online application procedure. After the data has been checked by us as your personnel administration office, the LBV NRW will carry out the pension assessment and issue the requested pension information.
Further information can be found in the application guideline of the LBV.
Pension calculator
If you have not yet reached the age of 55, you can calculate your own prospective pension benefits using the pension calculator. Here you will also find application aids, technical information and leaflets.
